Controlled AssessmentYour controlled assessment has begun. It is critical that you maintain a good attendance record in order to keep up with the whole class. Remember that this is worth 25% of your final grade. Students who do well with the controlled assessment invariably perform better overall (need this even be said!). Revision, revision, revision.
Time is ticking. Over the next few months it is crucial that you take the time to review work completed in year ten to help to reduce the demands that you will face in later in the academic year. Perhaps one of the easiest places to begin is by ensuring that you have a good working knowledge of the terminology that you have used over the last 14 months. This will help by providing you with some of the tools you need to make the most of your time in the exam and increase your confidence with the case studies. Click on the image on the left below to take you to the GCSE terminology page. At this time it would be particularly useful to ensure that you are comfortable with the river features and processes terms as this will help with your controlled assessment.

Population Pyramids
By popular request...the TED talk video embedded in the slide show on the right is very good. It helps to highlight the power of population pyramids for conveying a lot of complex data in a clear and accessible manner. Worth a watch.
